101 goals in 1001 days

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as new year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Why Me?
Normally I do not participate in New Years Resolutions and I haven’t participated in giving up something for Lent because it seems that I normally lose steam and fail half way through.  It is more depressing then uplifting and so I thought with a more realistic plan of goals to achieve would be much better for me in general.  I have heard about this and have always wanted to sit down and think about what I wanted to accomplish and I love that it isn’t constrained to 40 days or even 365 days.  I feel I have more time to find myself and accomplish these goals that I made.   So hear goes nothing!

Now that the date has come and gone I wanted to update this page with what I had completed (above is all that I was able to complete) and what I am going to do moving forward.  I found out that some weren’t goals anymore and so it was great to see what I thought I wanted to accomplish almost 3 years earlier!  I didn’t accomplish 54 items on the list (less than 50%–booo!) and I have given $200 to the Newtown victims, $50 to Transplant Research, and $20 to child who is fighting with cancer.  I have decided that I not going to have another 101 in 1001 list–but there are some things on there that I would love to really complete so I am adding them to the list below as a reminder of items I would still love to accomplish (but with limit on when they will happen).
